Bultema Gang 2016

Hey friends —

I have an exciting update to share with you!

First, some backstory: John and I have been praying God would use our family to serve and love and show people Jesus—together.

As much as I love sharing God’s Word with women (and I love sharing God’s Word with women!), I’m always on the look-out for ways I might also involve my family so we’d have oodles of shared experiences together.

Not to mention, with our kids smack dap in the midst of middle school, high school, and college age years, we see firsthand how easy it is to forget not everyone’s biggest problem is not having the latest gizmo or gadget.

We are trying to raise our kdis to be Kingdom-minded, instill them with empathy and kindness, while praying God would make all of our hearts tender for the things that matter to Him.

Not easy in our culture today. Can I get an Amen?

Imagine my delight this summer when I was approached by Compassion International to pray about being one of their Children’s Ambassadors.

I was actually in Charlotte, North Carolina when I was invited to share a meal with a Compassion Staff member, and I immediately called John after my lunch—nearly jumping up and down in excitement!

Could this be how God was answering our prayers?

John has sponsored children faithfully through Compassion since he was in college (so over 20 years!) He diligently did his homework prior to signing up to ensure his hard-earned money went to his sponsored child.

(And trust me: my guy is a researcher. Remember, he holds a CPA and an MBA. John knows his stuff!)

But still, we prayed.

From July to the end of November, we asked God if this was a ‘God idea’ or just a ‘good idea’? After asking a few trusted friends as well, we stepped out in obedience, and on 11/28 (John’s birthday)—it was official.

We are Compassion International Ambassadors—Woo Hoo!

You can check out my Compassion page here. It looks like this:

The more I learn about Compassion, the more excited I am about what God is doing through them and how we can help.  And, guess what?!

We’ve also signed up to travel with them to Guatemala this May! Woo Hoo!

I love that the trip is over my 47th birthday. I can’t think of anything I’d rather do over my birthday than serve and love kids in Jesus’ Name. Hooray!

(I may or may not have just sponsored a new little precious four-year-old girl from Guatemala. Her name is Mildred. I’m hoping I can meet her this Spring. I’ve decided I will give up Starbucks—unless I have a gift-card—to sponsor Mildred. The monthly sponsorship is about what I probably spend on coffee. I guess God isn’t just trying to get ahold of my kids. Ahem.)

Friend, if you’d like to sponsor a Compassion Child, share hope with him/her this Christmas, and help release them from poverty, I’d love to hear from you!  You can check out my Compassion page, email me at cindy@cindybultema.com, or send me a private message through Facebook.

In return, I’d gladly send you a copy of my new book Live Full Walk Free. (It doesn’t even officially release until Tuesday 12/13, but I’ll make it happen for you.) Or schedule a phone call with you, or maybe John would come shovel for you or something, or my girls could bake you some cookies. You get the idea. We are taking our role seriously, and want to do our part to help these beloved children in need.

And for all of us, let’s be praying for the Compassion kids in India. (See article here.) You can write your congressperson easily here, and join us in praying the children of India, who were receiving nutritious meals, education, health care, and a message of purpose and hope, will not lose access to this beneficial program.

Thanks for sharing in our exciting update, sweet friend.

Do you sponsor a child with Compassion? If yes, what is his/her name? Where do they live? I’d love to hear from you!

Sweet blessings,

P.S. Don’t forget about the FB Launch Party this Tuesday, December 13th at 9PM EST. There will be tons of giveways, ice breakers, and more! Come join the fun!
