What is the major obstacle you are facing right now?
As I mentioned in my last post, my March was filled with much disappointment, confusion, hurt and loneliness. I felt caught off guard and sucker punched, and left wounded and broken.
Thankfully I am back on my feet today – stronger than ever. Woo Hoo! (& thank You, God!). I may have been knocked down, but I am not knocked out.
And the same is true for you, sweet friend.
Regardless of the circumstances, in Christ, we are overcomers!
Over the next few posts, I’d like to share simple strategies that I’ve learned to live not as a victim, but as a victor in the midst of our challenging, confusing situations.
Strategy # 1 – Watch the Self Talk
What name tag did you put on today?
I’m talking hypothetically, of course, but I’m always shocked and saddened when I ask women what “name tag” they put on that morning.
When I say, “Did you put on ‘loved’, ’empowered’, ‘chosen’?”, women typically grin and look at me as they are reflecting on their morning routine, and then their smiles turn to blank stares and glances of awkwardness.
When I ask, “Or did you put on ‘exhausted’, ‘overwhelmed’, ‘defeated’, ‘not good enough’?” – there is no need to respond. Their slight nods and uneasy body language give it away every time.
If we are going to live as the overcomers we are in Christ, we must “label” ourselves with Truth. In Christ, regardless of your circumstances, and in spite of how you feel – you are….
- Accepted
- Beautiful
- Chosen
- Delivered
- Enough &
- Forgiven
…and so much more!
My challenge to you: For the next 24 hours, would you commit to paying careful attention to your self talk?
If it’s helpful, think about the ‘name tag’ you are wearing. Have you labeled yourself with the Truth of who God says that you are, or are you allowing false labels to get in the way?
In other words, what nametag are you wearing right now?
I’d love to send you a ‘Truth sheet’ if it would be helpful to use as a tool to help you identify the lies and false beliefs that are getting in the way of your free, full life. Just share with me your email address, and I’ll send a copy to you right away.
If you are currently living with spectacular self talk, will you please join the conversation? How do you keep your self talk Truth-filled? I’d love to hear from you!
And if you have a few minutes, please watch this video by Matthew West . I love it! (Thanks for sending it my way, Chellie!)
Thanks for stopping by *She Sparkles*, my overcoming, victorious friend!
Cindy, I LOVE this. Great stuff. You are awesome 🙂
Erin, God is awesome…I’m just His weary vessel. LOL! Thanks for your love and support! xoxo
I’m constantly telling myself that I’m not perfect but God is and he has my back! This helps me through the day! Thanks for sharing such an honest post!
What a great reminder, Chrissy! I’m going to try that one today! “I’m not perfect but God is and He has my back!” Amen! 🙂
Great post, simple strategies. I hope as you want in the days and weeks to come that God will whisper His truth in your ear of who you are. Loved and truly His.
I’m praying the same right back to you, dear Brenda! May God whisper His truth in your ear of who you are. Loved and truly His! xoxo
Cindy, I heard this song for the first time just last week & I told my daughter it’s now one of my new favorites – I can SO identify with it! So neat to see/hear it again on your blog! Thanks & love, Jenny C.
Great post! I would love a copy of the “truths” sheet:)
