Hey Friends –
If you were in my neighborhood last night, you may have heard screaming from my kitchen. Here’s why –
Last weekend, I spent a lot of time re-reading Paul Miller’s book A Praying Life: Connecting with God in a Distracting World. (I once heard Crawford Lorritts say if you read only one book on prayer, be sure to read Paul Miller.). I want to glean everything from it I can!
One of the points Paul stresses is coming to God through prayer with childlike faith.
Paul shares, “…little children never get frozen by their selfishness. Like the disciples, they come just as they are, totally self-absorbed. They seldom get it right. As parents or friends, we know all that. In fact, we are delighted (most of the time!) to find out what is on their little hearts. We don’t scold them for being self-absorbed or fearful. That is just who they are….”
Yesterday I had the opportunity to put my childlike faith into action.
Mandisa tweeted that there was an opportunity to win tickets for the Unity Christian Music Festival coming to West Michigan this weekend.
(John and I have been before and had a blast! I’ve wanted to go this year, but knew that tickets weren’t in our budget. Bummer! 🙁).
After seeing Mandisa’s tweet, and the more I looked at the Saturday concert line-up, the more I was just itching to go! Check it out –
Saturday:
6:15 p.m. – Mandisa
7:30 p.m. – Matthew West
8:45 p.m. – Steven Curtis Chapman
Can you believe it?? We all know I love Mandisa, Matthew West, & the Chapman’s. (Remember when I had lunch with Steven and he sent this message to John?)
How about you, friend? What is God teaching YOU these days?
Do you have a fun “answer to prayer” story?
Let’s encourage one another today and remind each other that we serve a God who answers His dearly loved kids’ prayers. He sees, He hears, and He is faithful…indeed!!!
Thanks for stopping by *She Sparkles*! God’s richest blessings to you!
Congratulations! God is good like that! …able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think!!
I am so happy for you!!!
Amen, Tonya! God IS good like that! 🙂
Ohhhh love this and so happy for you guys! Yes, I do have a fun answer to prayer story from last night: Our eleven year old had his bike stolen a few months ago and so after looking for a used one for a long time and no luck we went to Walmart to look. We had a budget of $100 and we just couldn’t find one but finally at the end we found one that he LOVED except that the tag said $225. We said there was no way we could pay that. The guy helping us said, “Let me scan it real quick” and then he said, “It’s actually ringing up as $120.00” Mitchell said, “Yessss. I prayed it would be in our budget. Mom, is that still in our budget?!!!” We laughed and said we could swing the extra $20.00. Anyways, I thought that was pretty neat.
Melody – I love your story!! I’m sorry your son’s bike was stolen – but I smile to think he has a new one now that he LOVES – and at a screamin’ deal! Neat indeed! 🙂
Haha Cindy!!! SOOO happy for you! I love your enthusiasm and your childlike faith. Was just thinking about you last night when we went to see Toby Mac! I think you had gone to see him right around the time when I was in MI this spring…Such fun things to do!!! Hugs.
Cindy,
I just met with my new coworkers at the new school position I will be starting next week. I have been praying for a part-time school counseling position for 4 years now, and God answered that prayer! I have to remind myself of how each answered prayer is truly a miracle. God is so good! Have fun and dance for all of us!
