Hey Friends –

If you were in my neighborhood last night, you may have heard screaming from my kitchen. Here’s why –

Last weekend, I spent a lot of time re-reading Paul Miller’s book A Praying Life: Connecting with God in a Distracting World. (I once heard Crawford Lorritts say if you read only one book on prayer, be sure to read Paul Miller.). I want to glean everything from it I can!

One of the points Paul stresses is coming to God through prayer with childlike faith.

Paul shares, “…little children never get frozen by their selfishness. Like the disciples, they come just as they are, totally self-absorbed. They seldom get it right. As parents or friends, we know all that. In fact, we are delighted (most of the time!) to find out what is on their little hearts. We don’t scold them for being self-absorbed or fearful. That is just who they are….”

Yesterday I had the opportunity to put my childlike faith into action.

Mandisa tweeted that there was an opportunity to win tickets for the Unity Christian Music Festival coming to West Michigan this weekend.

(John and I have been before and had a blast! I’ve wanted to go this year, but knew that tickets weren’t in our budget. Bummer! 🙁).

After seeing Mandisa’s tweet, and the more I looked at the Saturday concert line-up, the more I was just itching to go! Check it out –

Saturday:
6:15 p.m. – Mandisa
7:30 p.m. – Matthew West
8:45 p.m. – Steven Curtis Chapman

Can you believe it?? We all know I love Mandisa, Matthew West, & the Chapman’s. (Remember when I had lunch with Steven and he sent this message to John?)

I decided to put my childlike faith into action and started praying!
I pictured my kids and what they would do if there was somewhere they really wanted to go. In fact, it helped to have spent the day at the fair with my gang. They are not shy about what they want. They’re not afraid to share their requests (again and again and again). They ask boldly with the expectation to receive.
I decided to pray for Unity Christian Music Festival tickets with childlike faith and expectation.
And guess what???  Last night I received an email with this subject line…..
Congratulations on winning 1 Pair of Tickets to Unity Christian Festival 2012 from Fusemix.com
Can I get a Woo Hoo?! 🙂   I read the email and then ran into our kitchen screaming and shouting and started doing the happy dance right on my ivory kitchen rug. Thank You, God!
And a tweet back from Mandisa definitely made my girls hoot and holler! 🙂
Yay, God! 🙂
Now please know, I certainly am NOT suggesting that God is our big vending machine dispenser in the sky. Absolutely not.
My sense is that in this case it wasn’t about the tickets (although I am thrilled) – instead winning the tickets was a “token of encouragement” on my journey of faith. What a precious, visible, tangible reminder to pray with childlike faith – one that I will not soon forget! Isn’t that just like Him?

How about you, friend? What is God teaching YOU these days?

Do you have a fun “answer to prayer” story?

Let’s encourage one another today and remind each other that we serve a God who answers His dearly loved kids’ prayers. He sees, He hears, and He is faithful…indeed!!!

Thanks for stopping by *She Sparkles*!  God’s richest blessings to you!
