Let’s review the shocking statistics on sex and dating I shared earlier this winter.
According to Match.com’s annual singles survey, 55 percent of singles have sex on the first date.
That’s 66 percent of men and 44 percent of women. And 55 percent of men believe couples should be sexually active at least by the third date.
Wow.
As a woman, a wife, a mom, a passionate follower of Jesus — I’m super concerned about the messages we are sending our women, especially in the media.
Whereas I promised myself I wouldn’t get involved in the 50 Shades of Grey debate, I’m guessing you know how I feel about the situation. (Remember this rant?)
Thus the reason I am THRILLED to help share the message of Old Fashioned, a film that brings to the big screen a story of courtship and healthy relationships, and offers a view of what dating looks like when the first goal is respect for your partner.
Can I get a Woo Hoo?!
“Old Fashioned” is the faith-based tale of a former frat boy and a free-spirited woman who attempt an old fashioned courtship.
Here’s a sneak peek —
My husband John and I went to see Old Fashioned with another couple opening weekend this past winter. We loved it, and the other couple did too. Sweet friends, I highly recommend this movie!
But don’t just take our word for it! Here’s what marriage expert Pam Farrel has to say about Old Fashioned —
“OLD FASHIONED is a fresh look at the real meaning of desire, romance, and love. We hope it becomes a new fashion to be a bit more old fashioned in the way we all handle relationships! Make an OLD FASHIONED movie date and share popcorn and a little true love.”
That’s right: relationship experts recommend OLD FASHIONED. Why not buy your own copy to watch with honey this weekend? Now that’s a date night made simple!
Since Old Fashioned is released on DVD today (yippee!)—John and I will be getting our own DVD to rewatch this weekend. You too?
And now to make it easier to watch Old Fashioned this Father’s Day Weekend…..(drum roll please….)
I am excited to be able to share a DVD copy away to a *She Sparkles* readers! Yippee!

Sweet blessings,
P.S.Want to hear some good news? I was talking with one of the executive producers of Old Fashioned, and she shared…
I had wanted to see this movie and I feel like my courtship with my husband was old fashioned too! I shared on FB, I subscribe to your blog and I shared on Twitter. Thanks for the giveaway!
I’d love to see this movie and be able to share it with our daughters and other young people.
We saw this movie and loved it! It’s so important to show our kids that there is a better way to date/court than what the world tells them! 🙂
I would LOVE to see this movie! We are always on the lookout for good, quality movies to watch at home…and I’m sure you know how few and far between they are! We’ve become super picky about what we’ll watch and what we’ll let our kiddos watch. This one sounds like it would be great! 🙂
I would love for my family to see this movie. I am a nurse who has spent most of my career in public health working with women experiencing a crisis pregnancy. I raised my family in the church and taught a Biblical worldview and strong moral values at home. Despite everything I did, my oldest daughter became an unwed mother at the age of 21. I still have two daughters at home – one starts high school in the fall and the other is only ten. I hope that seeing their sister’s struggles firsthand will help to bring the lesson home, but I still worry at times. I hope and pray that the loudest voice they hear is God’s and not the world’s.
My husband and I are celebrating our 25th Anniversary next week! Would love to celebrate with a sweet movie about true love.
I’d love to watch this movie as it sounds really interesting and a great movie to share with others.

I would love to watch this movie with my husband, kids, Mom friends, and youth group young girls! My kids are tweens and need to know that this type of dating exists. My husband and I struggle with just being sweet and romantic with each other, so I think this movie would be great for us!
I want to see this movie because it seems to have a great Christian message….. I hoping it is as great as it seems because I would like to share this family members!
