Wow—what a week.
Regardless of how you voted in the election, I think it’s fair to say we have all been impacted in some way or another by Tuesday’s results. I have found myself praying and wrestling all week, asking God to help me lean in, listen, learn, and love well in the midst of the political stresses and messes in our nation right now.
How about for you, friend?
How are you feeling after Tuesday’s results?
Earlier this week I nearly fell out of my chair when I heard President Obama share, “….We are all on the same team, part of the same family. Work together, not against each other because We’re on the same team…'”
If I didn’t know better, I would have thought he watched one of my new video lessons from my new book, Live Full, Walk Free! Ha!  In fact, the second teaching in Live Full, Walk Free is all about how to unite and not fight.
Why?
Because we are on the same team.
The amazing team over at Thomas Nelson Publishers is now offering this lesson for FREE on Youtube. (Thanks, Thomas Nelson team!)
If you want a sneak peek to my new Bible study, you can watch the video below or here:
If you don’t have enough time to watch the full video, check out my encouraging hockey story starting at 17:59, or my closing comments starting at 24:43.
Feel free to share this video with anyone who might need be encouraged by Paul’s words to the Corinthians, and to you and me today.
Sweet friend, we will never experience the fullness and freedom Christ has for us if we are unable to get along with our brothers and sisters of the faith.
Now it’s true, we might have different backgrounds and traditions.
We might have different preferences.
We might have different styles of worship.
We might have voted for different candidates.
But the TRUTH, as Paul reminds in Ephesians 4 is that “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”
One!
If we’re going to impact our world today with hope and love, it’s going to take a whole unified army.
We need a massive group of brothers and sisters, covered in prayer and infused with mighty, “dunamis” power, coming together, linking arms, declaring “we are on the same team.”
One of Jesus’ last prayers in John 17 was that we, the church, would be united as one.
I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. —John 17:11
How might we live out this last prayer in the midst of our everyday, ordinary lives?
I’d love to hear your thoughts!
I’m so grateful we’re on the same team. We are family. Let’s not fight—it’s time to unite!
