The countdown to summer has begun!
I can hardly believe tomorrow is the last day of school for my 3 school age kids (& Jake has been out of college for almost a month.) Woo Hoo!
You know me ~ I can’t let the last days of school go by without “marking the moment!”
How will we celebrate the end of our school year?
Benj, Manda, & Sarah have a 1/2 day of school on Friday, and each kid is inviting friends over for the afternoon. (The nice thing about having lots of kids is it’s always easy to have a party ~ everyone invites a friend ~ suddenly my table is filled! Yay!)
- I’m not sending out invitations, but if I was, I would pick these! (Aren’t they adorable?)
- Last year I greeted the kids with a banner when they got home, but “End of School Year” leis are a fun idea too!
- For lunch, I’m letting the kids choose the menu. Of course, they picked pizza! Easy peasy!
- And for dessert, last year I purchased this cake and cupcakes (since we all know I don’t bake!)
Other End of School Year Celebration ideas
- We usually have a Treasure Hunt. I place a clue under one of our guests’ lunch plates. After lunch, I have everyone look under their plates. The friend with the clue gets things started. At the end of the treasure hunt, I have little prizes. This year I think it will be inflatable beach balls from the dollar store with this poem attached…
Summer is here, School is done. Go to the pool and have some fun! When your splashing with your friends and all, take along this prize and have “a ball”.
- As you know, it wouldn’t be a party without BINGO. You can make your own Summer Fun BINGO cards here.
- We”ll probably play lots of our favorite summer games!
- Last year I had a rule for our Celebration ~ NO use of pens, pencils, crayons, notebooks, etc.. (However, in case of rain, I’ll have color sheets, word searches, and mazes ready!)
- And it’s always fun to start thinking about a summer wish list.
Summer Wish List
Mostly, I just want the kids to have fun….laugh, get wet, run around, and have a blast! They’ve worked hard ~ now it’s time to CELEBRATE!

What about for you? How do you celebrate the End of the School Year? Do you have a tradition or family fun idea to mark this day? I’d love to hear from you!
Thanks for stopping by *She Sparkles*! God’s richest blessings to you!
These are awesome ideas! I think I might do this, too!
Hi Cindy! We are having a big END OF SCHOOL Party at our house THIS FRIDAY for the kids in our neighborhood! Excited about our Sidewalk Chalk Festival to welcome Summer! Plans to decorate the garage door with a “Welcome Summer” sign & huge yellow sun with sun glasses, inflateable pirate to welcome class”mates”, buckets of sidewalk chalk in the driveway, and another parent offered to bring cookies. I’ll be making sno cones on-site and sending “smarties” cadies as take home favors. We hope to give out a few “Save the Date” cards for our VBS and invite our neighbors. It is expected to be 90 so sunscreen will be out, too! Chalk, construction paper, and ice…doesn’t get much easier than that!!
We will be having our 2nd annual school’s out beach party on Saturday, the day after school’s out. There’s no planning involved other than telling a bunch of friends – Hey, we’re going to the state park Saturday at 11, bring a lunch and beach toys and join us! It was a total blast last year and I had people asking me to organize it again this year.
Our traditional celebration is Chinese food OUT and then a few days of total freedom to watch old movies, read books we love, go to the mountains, and cook out. Okay … so now we’re having trouble transitioning to being a “little” more productive … we just really love being “off!”
